Hygiene
This was a topic close to our hearts. When we read the list which suggested 200 baby wipes each, we thought no way could use that many. But let me tell you I think you easily could. We only took 80 each.
Due to water rationing in the middle of a desert where there is not much chance of replenishing supplies, we only had a chance to have a couple of little washes with about one litre of water. It was amazing what we could do with this though. We washed our hair and one time Tom even washed my shirt in the rinsing water.
All the rest of the times it was a baby wipe shower. You rubbed your body with baby wipes and then about ten minutes later it was grubby again. We all developed a deep sympathy for babies.
As for washing your plates, cups and cutlery, the general way of achieving this was a good lick and then a scrub with toilet paper, which James told us was rationed after the first few days.
None of us got sick, but I think we were all looking forward to the dishwasher and shower by the end of the trip.
